Does anyone know where servers can be rented apart from Hypernia and Gamearena?

Hopefully this is OK to ask here, but as on3 don't currently provide I'm guessing this shouldn't be a problem?

Hypernia servers are all taken and can't rent a gamearena server without an australian cc.

(not sure whether i can post here neither, please remove if deem inappropriate)

Renting server has also crossed my mind couple of times, though i am not sure the current player population reflects the actual number in long run. The new fish game might pull a portion of players away dunno.

I might just wait for a month or so first, seeing its quite an investment it would be painful to see the server sitting there with no players.

Imperium got ours through Hypernia - iirc 24 slots for around NZD$50 a month. ON3 are developing a server rental option, but from talking to Arsey last week, not available yet.

Okies - I'll talk to Craigor tonight and get the details of the panel. At the moment, I think he's got the controls sorted, but he or I will report back here ASAP.

DD will be keen also. We're currently looking into GameArena, but will hold off on that. Would much rather support ON3!

Okay - small update for you, I've got the costing sorted. We're going to be doing a flat $2 per slot, and I'll have the store open once I've skinned it tonight. Craigor's either had an early night, or he's ninja'ing MSN and is working away from my "are we there yet" requests so stand by for status from him.

whats that got to do with anything? ON3 is local, GA/Hypernia isn't. Renting from ON3 will support the community, renting from GA/Hypernia won't. You should stop being such a pleb

fwiw, the majority of my gear has come from Playtech, also supporting the community.

The only issue with renting local (in NZ) is that some of the Aussie clans will not like playing 'away from home', they will bitch & whine about lag, rubber banding, etc and insist on playing on a west island based server.

Menial

Those clans probably have their own server anyway

LOL bout time the aussies got to taste what it's like from our side of the ditch anyway..

Each to there own on who buys where. I prefer to by local and support those that support us. I'm in business in NZ and know how frustrating it is when people come pick your brains then by off the interwebs from someone who has no overheads and can afford to drop there prices and has offered no service but ridden off ours... anything can be found cheaper oversea's. and I mean everything so remember that when your buying outside the country that you may well at some stage lose your income to the same thing.

Menial
2nd November 2011, 12:03 PM
You might also lose your income to competition within the same country or to alternative products. More to worry about than just overseas bogeymen.

[∞]MadMike
2nd November 2011, 12:11 PM
Not really. most wholesalers are starting to protect there brick and tiles. Internet traders over here are annoying to be sure but people need to understand that most of them don't hold the stock there purely acting as a docking port to dock you of more money.. take there cut etc...
