Hey guys,
I posted this in the LE thread that already exists, but thought many might miss that.
Just a quick calm down post to say that I spoke to the Head of Sales for EA in Aus/NZ/Asia. He has confirmed that the issue is prevalent in the UK and NZ primarily and they are looking at a solution - he has told me the possible ways they will go about fixing it, but at this stage, just chill, as they know and are worried about it. The shit you're missing out on isn't available yet, so short of wanting to show as "playing Limited Edition" on Origin, you're all g.
The solutions are also pretty damned good, and you will be happily impressed if the one I think they'll do is indeed what happens. EA rock, and got this, so stand by.

Just an update, EA have advised that they will be sending us a resolution to this error tomorrow so we will be in contact then with an outcome :)
Once again, apologies for this error, we are doing our best to get this sorted for you :)

For customers who are affected by the incorrect Battlefield 3 code being distributed (Received Standard Edition Code instead of Limited Edition).
EA has recognised the issue, and is now distributing new codes to fix.
... To claim the new code, please send us an email to sales@playtech.co.nz, with a photograph of your code sheet that came with the game, and the front cover which indicates the game is "Limited Edition".
Please also include the invoice number in the subject line.

Not gonna lie - I agree dude.
Anyway, Playtech is only giving out temporary solutions at the moment - you'd be just as fast going to Origin and asking for a replacement key if you could bear with the pain of waiting and the interrogation.

SO, went to EA help chat to get the bf3 standard edition removed from my account so I could install the limited edition, Said it was done, 9 hours later, and a origin reinstall later, it's still there! wtf...

I Brought the limited edition from the warehouse and it says that it comes with the expansion free but i dont see any serial key inside it for the expansion :ambivalence:

NEK MINIT:
Having two BF3 keys associated to your account confuses the Origin client (i.e. it tries to launch my uninstalled dud standard edition rather than the spiffy LE). The way around this is to hide BF3 standard edition from Origin.
1. Quit out of the Origin client.
2. Point Windows Explorer at C:\ProgramData\Origin\
3. Open InstalledGames.xml in a text editor (eg Wordpad).
4. Find the line in the config file with gameID="70619". Change the value of hidden="0" to equal 1.
5. Save the changes made.
6. Re-open Origin.

Ass...uming you did this as per the email from PT
1. Redeem the replacement serial number in Origin.
2. Uninstall the Standard BF3 installation, logout and close Origin.
3. Open Origin and login.
4. In games library your BF3 should now show LE and LE box art.
5. Insert your original DVD that was purchased from us, and run through the installation as you initially did, your LE should now be installing from DVD.
6. After the installation is complete and the update patch has been installed run the game to clear the release date check, for users having issues with activation please move onto the next step, everyone else should be playing.
Please allow up to 24 hours for the server to update.
Some people are experiencing problems where the game is being forced to install online instead of from the discs, or where they still have standard editions installing on their account.
Few people have discussed where by un-installing and re-installing origin using the new install file from origin.com would fix the issue, or get origin support to completely remove your standard edition copy from your subscription.
From our perspective, we’ve provided you with a limited edition code, and therefore you’re eligible to redeem limited edition under your account.
Unfortunately we do not provide tech support with origin, as we have no control over this content

Got my LE key from PT, followed their instructions to install and I couldn't get it to install off the disk so I have now had to DL 19gb to get it working.
There goes my 20gb cap, this is the last time I buy a hard copy :mad:

Okay to those nubs (which I am one of). I got new key from PT yay! however I pay $1 per GB :'(.
I had original game showing in Origin, Beta, LE edition.
Just contact EA customer service. In 2 minutes they removed the original game from my Origin and I autorun again and hey presto its all good.

While I appreciate the frequent upates from Playtech, it seems to me that they are washing their hands of us, now that they have supplied a LE code. This would be fine if they were selling codes only, however, I purchased install DVDs, to save me downloading 11GB. If these disks do not work to install my game (as many people are having problems with), then the goods they have supplied me are not 'fit for purpose'.

It seems to me to be the easiest resolution.
I'm considering it myself. Sounds a pain in the ass to do it the way documented and my disks are useless otherwise.
I'm not happy about wasting 8gb of my 30gb cap. That's why I bought disks too...

Went to fire up my new LE edition tonight, now game won't activate. Have tried all the various solutions posted here and at EA with out success.............so back in the queue with EA support :(

Fubar, try this, it worked for me:
Bonus tip for anyone who has:
- Activated BF3 LE in Origin
- Unistalled BF3 SE
- Conacted EA and had them remove BF3 SE from Origin Games List
- Installed BF3 LE (from disc)
- NOT been able to play/activate BF3 LE........
Go here: C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License\
^^delete the dlf file.
Restart Origin and play.

Those that are having problems installing the LE after entering your key simply do this.
- Register LE key,
- Go to BF3 folder and make a copy of it.
- Uninstall BF3 from origin and restart Origin,
- Login and install BF3 LE from Origin (let it download a few MB's).
- Close Origin and go to the BF3 folder.
- Replace new BF3 folder with the backup/copy from previously.
- Start Origin, BF3 LE is installed.
You may need to re-download the patch again (I can't remember if I had to do it).
I didn't have any other problems with activation and/or other... Simply start the game (battle log), join server and you're away laughing :)
