I found it almost unplayable last night... Anybody else having this issue ? In some cases Id drop off a building open parachute land on ground and then rinse and repeat 3 times before I could actually resume control. Would be in gun fight run round corner for cover. get shot and my dude is lying well outside of were i was on my screen prior to being shot. Jump in car. start to drive then suddenly stood next to car again...

Is this my internet or is everybody experiencing this sort of thing?

I was on one of the 48p servers last night and noticed small banding at times..

The map with 4 CP, all under a highway bridge and its quite dark.

Nothing major just 1 step forward, 1 step back, 3 -5 min of good gameplay.

Sooo many factors involved that i didnt really look into it.

Once the hype of bf3 wears a bit we shall see.

For a shear numbers sake, we usually have up to 400 connections to on3 games at any point during the weekend.

8pm last night we had 1065 people playing.

We know the links can handle it, mike, add me to origin, darkvirus1987 and pm me when you have lag, ill come join since we are both WHG

solid 3 hours last night, lots of diff ON3 servers. Experienced pingpong once for like 3 mins on a caspian server. Otherwise it was a perfect night of gaming :D

as above, only banding i experienced was Tehran Highway, would try to select another weapon about 3 / 4 times before it actually changed apart from that awesome night of gaming keen for a lot more tonight

Flying usually has the worse rubberbanding. on3 48p are actually pretty stable, i get really bad cockpit shaking on 64p though.

Seeing the shaking even comes with explosion sound effects im not too sure if its acutally lag or some kinda ingame 'balancing'. Seeing both intel and AMD experience the same rubber banding i do not believe hyperthreading is at fault here.

i noticed this yesterday when I first loaded up was on the 64 player but the server I was on last night was fine didnt have any problems (if you dont count not being able to aim)

TBH DV I dont thinks its being caused by your end at all... Might have a look and see if Threading is on... not that you should need to turn it off anyway but... I know Kong is having similar issues to me as well.

I had rewind, FF, rewind again at several periods during the night and on different servers, that said the 32 slot RUSH server that most of the admins populated had not one issue (as pointed out by IHAZASTARGATE).

SQDM also was all good as far as I experienced :)

tehran highway made a lvl32 server rubberband. I dunno but lvl 32 is pretty boss. Even more so than lvl 48 and lvl 64

Tehran Conq and Caspian Conq have noted rubberband issues, doesn't matter what server or location. Tehran will often crash the server too - it should def be removed from rotations.

^ This

A lot of other providers have been reporting the same issues on their servers with Tehran and Caspian, it has been brought to EA's attention for patching

.. hopefully everything else is running pretty smoothly? lol

Getting pretty bad lag on 64 servers, 48s are fine though so I stick with them.

whatty
29th October 2011, 09:20 PM
Was playing with at least 12 or so on mumble and other than the map lag that you get individually the banding was happening for all at the same time. That certainly points to server side but not certain whether it is software or upload or hardware, jury out on that i recon.

Money is on game optimization and some maps just badly rendered.

Yea I am going to cull it from the 64p servers tonight. If people want special servers made please post them in a new thread not this one.

elemunk
30th October 2011, 04:31 PM
It needs to be culled from all servers until the map is patched, it lags the box on all map sizes and makes the map after it lag aswell.

in regards to server modes I think you guys have done a pretty good job, would like to see a couple more 48 player (conquest) servers up (always full).

Maybe take the two least used servers and make them 48 player servers conquest, one with 32 player map mode, one with 64p

Get rid of it in 48p too. It lags every single time without fail.

I've only had noticeable rubber banding a few times on caspian border. Also I would be down for a 64 player Metro knife only server

Zerulas
30th October 2011, 07:57 PM
I've found the 48p servers to be way too laggy as well. Not just rubber banding but hits not registering until about 2 secs later.
The strangest kill I've done is unloading a full m416 clip in a guy, then unloading my pistol clip - 6 shots into my pistol clip the guy finally dies by the m416 used earlier.

need more conquest servers atleast 5 with 48 or 64players, also getting quite a bit of lag at times in conquest 48players, seen alot of unused servers maybe remove some for better performance?

.osiRiS
30th October 2011, 08:47 PM
Yes it is confirmed across all RSP's that 64p servers are crashing frequently. I can't do much at this point as I would still like to offer 64p servers but have removed Highway from the rotations.

The box the 6x 64p servers are sitting on isn't even using 10% of the total CPU so its not a hardware problem.

30th October 2011, 08:55 PM
have you made a scarifice to the silicon gods lately? if not i suggested getting and old machine and either running it to some goes pop or throwing it from a very high building. we find this solves hardware issues and software issues quite well :D

i assume there is no silly QoS settings anywhere taking bandwidth away from the game servers ? or unlike iconz setup there is actually spare capacity in the network, and its not sitting at 110% usage when the servers are full.

im still getting bad rubber banding on lots of different servers, was playing on SQDM and TDM last night and getting it

Emrico1

Sounds to me it's more map issues and netcode causing it.
Put up with it for now and hopefully Dice will sort it.

Today the rubber banding has been a huge discussion topic for all of the Server Providers. Yes DICE are working on it, and yes they know it's an issue, and yes it's one of their priorities.

i.e. QQ all you like, you'll still experience it, and no our hardware is not under stress at present so that is not compounding the issue.

Yo Dawg,

I herd you like CPU Cores so we put a Core in your Core so you can multitask on your Cores while using your Cores for Multitasking

are the servers fat boxes or VMs sitting on a host machine?

[∞]MadMike
2nd November 2011, 12:20 PM
Out of interest. are you able to turn destructible environment off as an option in BF3. would be interested to see how much difference that would make to the rubber banding if we could try a server without it on ?

Craigorsarus
2nd November 2011, 12:23 PM
That particular one is one of the 'fat boxes', but we also have some VM's
