I don't mind if its in-game or in battlelog, I just want it to work. If in battlelog, it has to be instant change, rather than end of round

Based on all the "feedback" (aka rage) that is in the Beta forums, Dice will surely have to fix this. If they don't... we what the hell was the point in running a Beta? This is by far the biggest complaint from players.

@Slim: 0-day update is 10GB for 10mb of updated code, reason: "We could of made it incremental but CBF was too high and it would of taken two extra minutes"- BF3 devs

Promite lads. Promite.

Even if they only fix half the bugs the game will still rule.

I bet MW3 will not be buggy at all. The engine has been used for like 22 games now

I feel like I've been cheated on by a lover.

It's like BF2 was the best game I will ever get to play and its all down hill from here.

they won't keep it like it is atm. The biggest thread on the official BF# forums (255 pages) is about the squads. its one of the biggest problems people are bitching about. dice would be stupid to ignore them.

dont know why they wanted to use battlelog to set up squads and then make it so that it is faulty in the beta anyway. i remember the only time i tried joining with a party (did it correctly, mind you) was with oldlady and it put us in different squads, if not different teams. (can't recall) So much for beta testing that mechanism..

joining through a party works perfectly, however what does not work, is that when you are in game, you can not 'create new squad', as that is all that really NEEDS to be fixed. There are lots of other parts to the squad management system which I would like improved, but if we juts had the ability to create an empty squad, then that would be fine, however you can't, so if you have a party of four, and do a 'party join', the first person will probably be placed in a squad with two others, and then only one of your friends can join, then the other two will probably be placed in two separate squads, if not on the other team.

+1 however I can definitely see why they changed it, as it was very often the case in BF2 that you would join a round and every squad would be less than full, and locked. Pricks, it's like a no Spork club or something. :(

It's a very good idea to put people in a squad by default, but not being able to change to a certain squad is a real killer.

Some of the best squad features on public servers tbh.

And squad kick/invite.

Bell's right. Squads are a cop-out for pub-friendliness - meant to get the punters to the front line faster.
Prior to BF2 we had to get ourselves to the front line in numbers and capture the forward flag to respawn there.
No revives, no squad spawn. Screw it up and you were back to square one.

It was actually quite amazing, it was a great incentive to stay alive.

Bell

It has its advantages and disadvantages.

I totally understand why people love squad spawning but it has side effects on gameplay.
Lot of people like to throw around the whole squads promote teamwork thing, but without spawning, you really have a reason to stick together.
I think reviving would mean a whole lot more without them.

Did you.... even play BF2? You could spawn on your squad leader, and only him - which added in a layer of tactics and a depth of game play that has not been present since. Games have been consistently dumbed down in order to pander to console noobs.

Edit: Sorry Bell. this post was directed at Evil Guy, forgot the quotes.

Yeah but don't you love it when you're shooting at some retard from side on and 2 more people spawn and you mow them down too?

Funny that was my thoughts on Bf2 when they first introduced squads.
If you squad leader dies you can just switch squads in BF2 you realise.

I don't really find hiding a squad leader around the corner so your squad can charge straight into the fray as being that tactical.
Or flying your squad leader to the back lines of the map to spawn a whole squad in the rear without worrying about actually using any skill to get behind enemy lines.
With jets a squad pretty much has a teleportation device and any tactical defensive positioning doesn't really matter.

I remember the clan matches, they were still fun and skill and teamwork were still required to win but the spastic squad switching/spawning/suciding to reinforce really pissed me off.

I think the days of mod tools for major games are well over. The games are too complex, and the studios have too much capital tied up in the product to let fans fiddle with it.

this is the shit they pull that really pisses me off. I don't want to hear "we discussing it" that's so vague. I want to here - "YES the same squad functions you were used to in BF2 and BC2 will be in BF3 on release"

I'd rather something vague like that than one guy saying something that the studio can't/won't/doesn't want to back up and implement
