Hi, my name is Monica. How may I help you?
Nick : Hello, I purchased MOH LE Hard copy edition from a store in june this year, and I am just asking if there is a cut off date to when players have to have played online to be able to get access to the BF3 early access beta?
Nick : as I only found out yesterday that you even had to play online in order to get access to the beta
Monica: From where have purchased it?
Nick Faulkner: EB games (physical store)
Nick : not through steam
Nick : in Australia
Monica: Please contact steam , they will provide you the key
Nick : I did not purchase it through steam
Nick : I bought it in a store
Monica: Please contact the retailer from where you have purchased your game they will provide you the key
Nick : Hmm, ok, thankyou very much
Nick : have a good day
'Nick ' disconnected ('Concluded by End-user').
You do have to wonder if they know anything.

All I could think of while reading all that BS rage was this. I feel sorry for the helpdesk guy. I would have disconnected the chat a hell of a lot earlier than he did.

He dealt with an abusive customer very well. he can only go on the information he is given. If that information isn't correct, that's his employers stuff ups, not his.
Helpdesk guy said he couldn't send a key, client said if you can't send me a key cancel my preorder, help desk guy cancelled his preorder. During all of which he stayed polite.
He did a damn good job. It's not his fault he couldn't send a key

I agree with this, and I have dealt with the same EA support people a few times over the last few days, and on each time they have been unhelpful, however when I did rage at them, I specifically said that I had no problem with the helpdesk attendant, my rage was directed at EA.

It was in your spam email folder right?
Frikken helpdesk needs to actually know what they are talking about before getting all 'you are wrong'.
No wonder you raged...

Yeah, it was for malice dude.
It's rare to get such a narky helpdesk person.
I think you got his back up early though malice, you should try thinly masked politeness to mask the underlying rage until you don't get what you want. Then BAM iuerngrgiuenfesjgngrene;

Pretty shit to not get a beta key when you've already jumped through the hoops. Also pretty shit to abuse someone online from the comfort of your armchair without repercussion.
So a 'Draw', with no winners (or maybe just one...).

Hello,
We apologize for not getting back to you sooner about this, but the Battlefield 3 Beta is now live and open to everyone!
To install the Battlefield 3 Beta on console, simply download the Beta from the PlayStation Network Store or Xbox Live Marketplace and play.
On PC, you must have Origin running. You can download Origin at www.origin/com/download. Once you have Origin installed, launch it and log in with your Origin ID (this will be the same as your EA Account used in Medal of Honor). In Origin, click the "gear" icon in the top menu bar and then select "Redeem Product Code". After entering the code, the Beta will be ready to download in the "My Games" tab.
You can also watch http://www.battlefield.com/battlefield3 for more details as they become available.
Please note, since we are experiencing an extremely high call volume, we may not be able to assist you in a timely manner if you contact us. We appreciate your patience and hope you enjoy playing Battlefield 3!
Sincerely,
Electronic Arts

It's strange that EA doesn't seem to realise just how much a two day delay can piss off a gamer.
I really wanted to make sure I had early access, I made sure I had more than one chance.
For me those first few hours of release are the most pure exciting part of gaming.
Nobody knows the maps, guns or lamo tactics. Nobody has access to some dick laser beam that always gets kills so it is a truly level playing feild (well almost).
If I didn't get that vanilla gaming moment, I wouldn't have been happy at all. Fair chance I would have raged like a trumped up school girl because I value that so much.

Fuck EA.
So, the day before the early access beta opened, I contacted EA to ask how MOH players are to get their beta keys, I was then told 'Sorry, since you did not play the game online, you will not get a key'. This is stuffed up, as there is NO indication of this anywhere on the product. On the front of the MOH box it says 'BF3 beta invite included' or something along those lines, then on the back of the pack it says something like 'for terms and details go to www.ea.com/beta , yet even on that website it says nothing about having to play the game online.. The only place where it says this, is on the EA forums, but there is not even a link to the forums on the above mentioned link. So they are saying, that every single person who bought MOH - including most of them who bought the game solely for BF3 - as MOH sucked penis, (and another reason why I didn't play it online was because everybody told me that the online component sucked balls) had to check on the EA forums to see if there is any information about something which I had no idea even existed. Absolute bullshit. I bought the game, and had it attached to Origin.
I then went and played online, and got back to them, they handed me off to tier 2 support, and made me wait 3 times in queue for thirty minutes, just to be disconnected every time I got to position one, and every time it said 'Sorry, there is nobody available to help you at the moment', even though after the first time, on both the second and third attempts, I was told that there are definitely people available to help. I then raged at an EA support person (however I did specifically state to them that I am actually raging at EA, as the person was trying to be helpful). After they finally understood that there is no chance of me waiting in the queue again, as something was clearly wrong with their system, they said that they will get one of their tier 3 support to get in contact with me, however they only operate via email, so I would have to wait a maximum of 48 hours to be contacted. I told them that this is absolutely ridiculous, as I bought MOH with the sole purpose of getting a BF3 beta key - back then I thought that it would be a key for something like what ended up being the closed alpha, not some crappy 2 day early access period. But still, the early access went for 48 hours, and they told me that it'd take 48 hours to contact me. I raged some more, told them that EA are complete crooks for letting this happen, and said that I expect an official apology letter from EA in regards to the issue (as I knew they wouldn't contact me in time) and that my view of Electronic Arts has been damaged, and I am quite disappointed in them.
FOUR days later.
Hello Nick,
Thank you for contacting EA Support regarding your issue. I will be glad to assist you with finding a resolution for the issue that you are having.
I do see that you were able to get access to the Early Beta. At this time is there anything else that I may assist you with?
Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts game in the future, please visit our web site and review our extensive Self Help Knowledge base (http://support.ea.com).
Sincerely,
Electronic Arts Customer Support.
Fuck EA, the ONLY reason why I was able to get access to the BF3 early beta is because some very kind person on another forum gave me a spare key which they had, and I am forever grateful to that person.

Well that certainly sux. It would be nice if they refunded your MOH money because they broke their agreement to provide you with access to the BF3 beta which was the sole purpose of buying the product, but it's not going to happen. False promises ftl
Spork
1st October 2011, 05:08 PM
Exactly. I wouldn't expect them to refund me the money for MOH, as I bought it from EB games, not from Steam, but at the least I was expecting them to apologise for my situation, and possibly give me some Origin store credit or something, as I remember a few weeks ago there were heaps of people who went into the EA chat support thing, made up some problem which they had, and the EA techs were happy to hand out 20% off codes for BF3 through origin. Yet for me, who actually has a problem, which is 95% EA's fault, I get diddly squat.
