They have already said there will most likely be a day 1 patch.

The main reason for the BETA isn't to iron out kinks, its to test how their servers perform under load - same with the server providers.

Master Server I guarantee will be a nightmare. They will base their infrastructure on BC2 loads, and BF3 will vastly exceed that IMO, so thus expect annoyances - especially in our prime time, which is their early morning (i.e. perfect maintenance window time).........

I don't know this as fact too, this is just my personal opinion, but I would not put it past EA/DICE to add in a 64p map, and let us play for another 7-10 days. I was waiting for the beta to come out so that I could make an informed decision as to wether or not I was going to pre-order at full price, as well as fully upgrade/replace my ageing pc.

I was excited about the beta, the ability to test the balance of the aircraft, the anti-air weapons and the tanks. Whether or not my joystick works with the aircraft. Now I just get to play an updated version of BC2 that won't run as well.

Will I still play it? Of course I will, because I've completed Dead Island and have nothing much else to play. And I'll just sit waiting patiently for the full game and I'm able to play a classic BF map.

I'd prefer proper CQ but I'm all over the BETA. I really enjoyed the rush BC2 BETA, I guess because all the strats hadn't been figured so it was diferent every round. Can't wait, will be fitting it in between the rugby. If it was CQ the rugby may have fallen aside a bit...

Well I for one am glad all this has been announced, now we can actually talk about it!

The beta is intended to sort out the server and hardware side of things. It is as much for DICE to sort the files, master server, and performance as it is for us to make sure we can run it okay, we have allocated enough resource for the interest and generally the game runs smoothly. From the client side, it is all about install on a mass basis (i.e. outside of the closed group they would have used and sorted problems for), the delivery of the game, Origin performance, and also the performance of the client on a wider range of systems.

So yes, it might appear to be like a demo, but reality is, this is a beta. I will put money down that the released game has a day 0 patch and there are numerous patches across it's first month (take $#@!ing note Treyarch/IW/Sledgehammer/Activision).

That aside, i'll like to add, I'd put money they won't fix anything for the final release (discs being printed on). There will be however a day1/week patch with some changes/fixes received from the beta.

I am quite disappointed in the fact that it's a rush map (this is battlefield for fuck sakes) it should be a conquest 64p map (bare minimum). Rush was made for the COD and CS players. The fact that it's a rush and small map 32players (64p option?) it also means there wont be any beta testing for jets/choppers, tanks/apc's in order to get the grips and feel of how they behave in BF3...

I'll still play the beta to get the feel for the rego and check out the weapons... Other than that disappointed :(
(there were rumors of a second map to be released, it better me a conquest map!)

So many tears are being shed here and on other game forums. Who cares what the game mode and $#@! is, you get to play the game early. If you don't want to play it then don't play it.. You only have to suffer through the forced rush mode for what, like 10 days or something?
