+1, WTF were they thinking...

Why? lets people know that its happening and the less srs people can look at getting a team together for it etc.

also lets srs people see who is going to enter and what "old" clans are coming back for it.

We know who's returning though :)
This just ruins the BADA BING surprise!

Come to think of it, BF3 out in Sept. So roughly a month go go...

There will prob be a Beta knock out comp soon.

Dont think we will play in it. Let everyone enjoy the game for a bit and get used to it rather than thrashing it at the start.

Also not sure if CG will do big format so hopefully GA does 16 vs 16 or something similar.

I'd be far more interested in 16 v 16, hopefully GA does go that way.

This is the discussion topic about what cg are going to do with Battlefield 3 http://www.cybergamer.com.au/forums/thread/265716/comps/
I've also noticed they have created a CGi league as well so there could be some good prizes up for grabs later this year :D

I like they have invite leagues but I reckon they should run a open ladder season first and start a CGi next year.

This allow unseeded teams to shine and gives teams to get players sorted etc etc.

Last year they started the CGi for BC2 too early and many of the teams that said they would play dropped out. They also based the seeding off the beta comp which was silly. An open season sorts all those issues out.

Also it gives longevity to the game up.

Totally agree they need to seed the teams and make sure they are committed before they make an invite league.

lol, I don't think my boss would allow me to take more than a few days off work (b'coz of my position in the comp). I am very important you see :)

Which ones are CG the really crap ones or the ones who took over from GA as the main ladder? O.o

CG took over from GA.

Most of the decent teams play there. GA died for BF a long time ago. Where GA may get numbers back is if they out all their efforts into 16 vs 16.

Shame CG does not do big format. They may...but I dont see their admins going above 10 vs 10. They may kill the game off if they go too small (under 8).

CG seems to be going strong. I do remember a few providers like them in teh UK going under over the years I was there. Main reason is they pushed too heavy on the pro leagues and neglected the other teams. resulted in only the pro teams reaming and everyone else leaving so eventually it died as the player base dried up.

I like the idea of not having pro leagues but having cups instead. e.g. Like Summer and winter cups. The better teams get seeded of ladder performance (not just placing) and then allocated into tiers. Cups run in a double elim format which is structured off seeding. This means more ladder play with the better teams in it and does not give non pro teams a feeling of exclusion. What you in leagues sometime is no new pro teams being developed and the big names always the ones remaining.

also Its BF, not COD or CSS.

It ain't a real BF scrim if the teams are smaller than 12

I can't wait for some BF3 32 vs 32 (even if it is pubs). Imagine clan matches with those numbers :D
I think the commander would have a headache... speaking of commander mode, what do we know so far in BF3 COM mode?

Ahh to have a good active community again.
I miss the days of 32v32 pug style matches where everyone was on comms with set commanders
Then there were the bfv matches where we had 32 pub players vs 12 of the best clanners, that shit was crazy

There is comm rose text data hidden in the alpha, by the looks of it they maybe had a change of mind and disabled it either to save $ or make the game easier to port to the console :-/, judging bythe up roar and Dices response 'we will think about it' there is still a chance comm rose will be put back in.

You'd think that if they're promoting teamwork, they'd at least provide the tools to communicate amongst your team (not just squad voip) :(

Did I hear something about a squad leader channel? But maybe not, apparently top scorer in the squad is leader these days, which sounds fkin ridiculous.
