IGN Crysis review 9.4/10
http://au.pc.ign.com/articles/909/909584p1.html
Crysis Warhead is the videogame equivalent of a summer action movie, and while it's more action-heavy than its highly acclaimed predecessor, it still retains its brains. Warhead seems aimed at those who felt that Crysis was a bit too slow-paced and cerebral at times. But while it doesn't quite match the over-the-top insanity of a Call of Duty game, Warhead does prove that Crytek can deliver an intense action game.
Its out on Sep 17th
oh and as for performance
I played Warhead on a high-end machine with a quad core CPU and the latest Nvidia graphics card at high resolution (1680x1050) with all the details set to Enthusiast, which is essentially very high. It looked cutting edge and the frame rate was solid. Next, I checked the game on a slightly older PC with a two-year old 8800GTS and I was still able to crank it to Enthusiast settings and the same resolution and get solid results. Finally, I checked it out on the "$700 PC" that Crytek and EA have been touting. It really is a $700 machine built on the latest mainstream parts (the video card is a 9800GT), and I was able to play the final boss battle at the same resolution and at Enthusiast settings and get solid frame rates. I also tried it the Gamer setting, which is essentially high, and the frame rate was buttery smooth. You do lose some visual quality stepping down from Enthusiast, but even at Gamer Warhead still looks better than almost every game out there.

I'll probably end up buying it just because it's only like $40. Should be fun for a romp about.

I liked Crysis multiplayer, too bad the average gamer thought it was too complicated -_-

Very high was available on XP DX9.

They removed that DX10 exclusive baloney because of the backlash they got since you could unlock and use the same settings on DX9.

Im keen for this! They only thing I hope they have improved on, that was not mentioned in that article, is the amount of bullets it took to kill one person :knife:

ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Took like at least 3 of those incinery rounds in the head to kill someone with full armour mode?
and then once you'd hit them once they just change to speed, making them impossible to hit.
It all amounted to one giant flop.

Mmmmm, still ridiculously hard to kill someone, 3-4 bullets in the chest is what i find it usually takes, which is stupid.

people die so much more easily than before. 2-3 shots to a unarmoured soldier anywhere in the body and he will die unlike the 10+ required for crysis. the game also runs so much better even with the extreme increase in explosions and enemies. worth a buy for sure

No, it's perfect.
1 headshot to any enemy except nanosuit soldiers always kills (even with silencer over range). What's the point of headshotting if chest shots can take down enemies easily?
It rewards those who can headshot everytime.
TBH you should always headshot with small arms as firing at armoured targets is just a waste of ammo.

Awesome, pretty much a universally positive response in almost every aspect from the reviews I've read and comments I've seen.
Can't wait until Friday :)
I'm going to take a guess that Prophet's perspective will be called "Crysis Annihilation" because it's meant to be a trilogy and they registered that name awhile back as well as Crysis Warhead etc.
Electric

Yeah the singleplayer has been excellent.
Can not say the same with the multiplayer aspect though. The original Crysis had few balancing problems that needed ironing out. Crytek took note, and with Warhead... they made it worse.
Warhead MP Pros
1) Team Instant-Action
2) Rockets now travel faster, better for AA against imba Vtols
3) Cloak is actually useful
Cons
1) Strength punch now takes 2 hits to kill at 100% energy
2) Gauss rifle now takes 2 hits to kill (WTF now its the same as precision rifle, but more expensive and has a tell-tail trail).
3) TAC gun destroys base with 1 hit (no cumulative damage)
4) TAC gun fires in a straight line (wtf?)
5) Trucks have zero fall damage when driven off a cliff.
6) No way to reload tanks in Team IA
7) Turrets are nerfed (Base raping even easier than it used to be)

Yeah one of the things I really liked was the parallel story, like some things happened that were Nomad's influence and you knew that without having to be told it. Also, for once you weren't the 'top dog' just a senior sargeant - Nomad (over the other side of the island) was the hero, and also you didn't feel like you single handedly have to win the whole friggin' war by yourself as with so many other games. You knew that there was someone else fighting the war as well and could see his influence in some parts of the game. The story was almost like you were just trying to gtfo and maybe nab the big container while you're at it. It felt more like a 'real' story. Rather than just a sequence of events to show off a pretty game engine.
I enjoyed it a lot, physics and visuals run much more smoothly on my hardware, very pretty, very involving, very impressive, very fun :)

it runs 30+ frames on the lowest settings at 1280 x 800 which is pretty fkn sweet considering cod4 on lowest settings and at 800x600 reso runs like crap.

Only at 1280x1024 but it looks outstanding. The FPS is roughly around 20-40 depending on the environment and with an E6600 and 8800GTX. Quite surprised I didn't notice any 'choppyness' when it went down to 20FPS in some situations.

Its an improvement over the original crysis in most areas, but I think the art direction let it down. Playing the original crysis without FSAA looked pretty good, but warhead really emphasises the jaggies, esp on the frozen ocean, and even those frozen waves were pretty "meh". The graphics didn't wow me as much, (like inside the mothership on the original for instance). The gunfights are a lot more fluid and you can actually kill koreans with 2-3 body shots now as opposed to 8-10, which is an obvious improvement - but they just throw more koreans at you. The end is a little anticlimactic though. I was hoping to actually get to fight Gen. Lee myself but all I got was another exosuit fight (Ok it was a different coloured exosuit). Don't know why they gave us the PAX cannon. Made it far too easy on "delta" difficulty.
Shame though, the AI still sucks balls (korean conga lines), but there are few games with good AI.
