ive just played the demo, all settings on low and i got a reasonable fps, how much more do you guys think the MP will tax my system compared to the demo level?

i dont have the best rig, so i dont want to buy a game that will give me 10 fps when i play online

depends...what FPS during the big gunfight? if you can play the gunfight without too much lag then you should be fine for MP.

these are the settings i tried it at, was quite supprised when i ran fraps with it, i was getting 40-50 fps, i can probably turn the settings up; i dont mind the fps until it gets to about 20

Turn AA off, it is hardly noticeable in CoD 4 like it is in BF2.

If it runs good with 4 try 2...

I get 90 FPS on 1280x1024 without AA with just an 8600GT.

320GTS and 1440x900 res i get 80-200 depending. That is with everything on, bar soften smoke and the hardout lighting.

Cool! Wait. No, it has nothing to do with anything in this thread. GW.

probably the 2 most helpful posts in this thread.

i have a 6800xt, so it should run reasonably well at 600x800 or 1024x768 with the added stress of online play.

now i just have to deside weither or not to buy it

I told him turning off AA would improve his performance a lot, does for me on a fairly average card at a normal resolution. Not that I can get 400 fps on my super card on all the maxed out settings, hope that helped friend!

As far as im concerned i helped just as much as you.

I was unaware of his specs, told him what i had and get, from there he can make a decision. How am i ment to know he has a 6800XT.

Telling him to turn AA off is about as much help as relaying system specs. No fucking kidding turn AA off. Jez.

My mate runs a 6600 (non GT, must be an LE or GS) and he gets 20-40FPS. Also only has 1GIG RAM. Everything off and low, but he can still play...just...

i have found the single player is much more power hungry then mp. Before i upgraded i had a 7800gtx and was able to just play it on med settings in single player. You might find mp easier to run.
