I'd like to stick to set times/dates as much as possible.
If however there is good reason to move the time/date and BOTH teams agree, then I may entertain the idea of putting forward another date.
What I don't want to happen is what I have seen in other events that times and dates are set by the team captains, they just keep getting pushed out further and further and ultimately don't happen. Due to the number of games there is to get through, shuffling the times and dates will be a bit of a nightmare from an administration point of view.
So general rule of thumb will be to make the times/dates outlined.

I completly agree, setting dates further back will only strain other teams and create backlog and more work for the admin team.
General rule should be: Both teams will be required to meet the date and time, and unless an exceptional reason is presented,a forfeit will be awarded.

so when does this comp start - before or after the holidays? if before do we stop for a three weeks over the break?
whats the deal yo?

I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on breaking for the holidays actually.
If we do before the holidays, then it's going to mean a lot of games per week and for some people that will make it pretty hard.
I'll do my very best to set dates tonight, but if people could let me know their thoughts on doing say 1/2 the tournament before xmas and then picking up again after, that would be cool.

I'm keen to go right through the holidays. But doing half before xmas, and then the other half in the new year sounds good too.
switch.

i cant wait much longer!
imo you should start it soon to keep everyone interested in the game, we need a good NZ based comp.

As long as it starts after this week I think a lot of us will be fine with it. (seeing as its exams for the whole of New Zealand atm.)

Yea I think you need to keep interest peaked, if it doesn't get under way within the next couple of weeks, interest will drop over Xmas slightly, everyone will be busy over Xmas and the new year.
Tournaments shouldn't be drawn out, generally having the first comp of a new game, you want to have it as close to release of the game as possible, because all teams are new to the game, the skill level is very raw and makes for some great games.

I agree, sooner would be better then later. Can't hold the wife off for much longer, dam anti-gaming hacks

the comp is 11 weeks long? start now and you'll need a break over the holidays of about 3 weeks so that you know everyone is back. A three week break would drop the momentum of the comp. Let it run from start to finished mid Jan. gives me time to finish crysis and practice scrim some more... :bounce:

after holidays ftw some of us actually do go away. And is going to make it that much harder to a field a team. And really I want to be able to use my top guys. Which im sure most other clans will aswell.

6 or so weeks is a long time to wait to kick things off tbh.
two games per week, pool play done before xmas, finals right after or something like that would be ok tho.

the sooner we start the better IMO... but I would vote for a break during the xmas period - 2 weeks would be more than enough, but christmas / new years is a hectic time and the wife WILL turn on the antigame hax

Hello,
I have looked through all the tourney threads not able to find if the dates have been posted yet..
My team needs to know dates and Game Starting times.. I can not get a team list together without these pieces of information
So have I missed them in a thread somewhere or we still waiting on them?
Cheers

Sorry guys I have been crazy busy at work lately. 60-80hr weeks ftl :(
I'll be working on the time table today and have some dates posted later on this afternoon/this evening.
Just to give you an idea though, we'll be having 1, maybe 2 rounds before the end of the year and then pick up again after xmas and New Years.
So get your teams sorted asap if you haven't already.
