It appears the patch is not enforced by the server (client side only patch).
So you are not forced to download it, but the servers will all be updated later on this evening.

The patch doesn't seem to work on my Steam installed version.
Any one on Steam updated theirs yet?
I'm guessing it will become a forced download at some stage.

what's this glitch?

If it's anything like the glitch that was in CoD2 then the vertical glitch is when your behind sandbags or cover of some sort, go from prone to standing very quickly, pop a shot off and because it's done so quickly the opposition can't see you and react with a shot. Has to be done very quickly though.

The left lean glitch was from vCoD where if you leaned to the left your body wouldn't show as much as what your view showed, giving you an unfair advantage over the opposition.

Hope this made sense?

From the replays, my body seems to be nowhere near the cover I thought I was behind lol.

I went prone and died behind cover yesterday. On kill cam it showed me still standing and being shot. There's something strange with the coding...

I have updated it manually then updated it via the link in game and then updated it via Xfire. I hope that this last attempt will be the money shot.

At least the patches don't stuff the game up or stop it working and they are quick to bring them out, just not to flash on the delivery so far

well COD4 doesn't agree with my comp anymore. it locks my system up every time i play

and by googleing. there doesn't really look like there is an obvious solution.

Few things to try since it seems I was having the same problems as you.

I initially thought xfire was mucking my game up, but shutting that down only helped for a small period of time.

-I know you have already heard this a million times, but update all your drivers :P make sure your mobo drivers and bios are up to date.

-Turn off any lcd and gfx card monitors i.e. riva, ati tools.

-I actually underclocked my gfx card slightly, about 50 of both the memory bus and the core.

-Quit all apps before playing.

Ive done all that and ive been playing without to many crashes now, hopefully the next patch will also help with this problem. That and getting my new pc next weekend xD

i was going to update my bios but don't really want anything to go wrong. i have 169.04 drivers. i dont use ati tools or rivia. i only have nod32 and razer background task, its weird cos it worked perfect for ages them suddenly froze every game...ill try the bios. fingers crossed.

Yea it was the same for me, it was going fine then randomly started locking up.

Before messing with your bios just try underclocking your card slightly. I have the xfx xxx model factory overclocked, never had any problems in any game until cod4. I read in a forum with 50 pages on this issue that bringing the clock speeds back slightly stopped the crashing for some people even when their temps were fine and didnt have any artifacts.

Worked for me.
