View Full Version : best game type?

Each night I jump on the search and destroy servers are empty and the team death match servers are full. I find this quite strange... So obviously team death match is the gametype everyone likes playing? I don't know why a non objective game type is so popular.

Personally I think search and destroy is the best, then domination, headquarters, teamdeath match and finally the disgusting-back-stabbing-chaotic-spawn-camping free for all.

what is everyones preference?

I've become a big fan of Sabotage, and like you bruce, enjoy the objective type gameplay - something to do in a map, with killing a part of completing that objective.

Domination is good fun, as is HQ. I agree with you, FFA is a waste of space (except when you do an internal clan funfest, and call a weapon for the map - like pistols on Shipment!!!!!!).

I love Search and Destroy, but sometimes i dont feel like waiting to respawn and just want to go killing. Also DM and TDM get your ranks up faster (which may be why more people play them)

S&D gets my vote, requires quite a bit of teamwork to win.

Domination.

There's just not enough Domination going on....

totally forgot about sabotage, is that the one where each team gets to plant the bomb? Yeah man that game type is good. takes longer but is good.

The objective based modes are a LOT more fun, but the down side is they demand a LOT more team work. I think this is why TDM is always popluar as far as pubbing goes - no real teamwork required.

I find it sooo annoying when you are playing HQ or S&D and the entire team bar maybe 2 people are just going around ignoring the objectives :cussing:

I still haven't tried sabotage but am real keen to get it cranking one night.

Free for all.......just mental!!!!

If I want team play it is BF2.....If I want noob-tube action it is good old COD4!!!!

I'm not to sure how to take that last post. Teamwork is where its at. running around randomly gets boring quickly.

It's great covering the guy with the bomb, getting guys to cover you while you plant then shifting forward or back to cover it. but as a team so all exits/entrances are covered. You actually feel like you're accomplishing something then the chaotic deathmatch

hazard I'll get some tsw guys to get on a sabotage server and we'll get it up and running tonight.

NICENESS

Um,i like TDM(i use my team as cannonfodder and then rack up the kills,it's fantastic and to prove my point,in TDM i get no less then a 2:1 KDR,yet in Free-For-All i get like 0.2:1 KDR.You gotta have those teammates.

Also HQ is pretty fun.
Same goes for CTF

Worst would be free for all, then S&D,and probly just because i always die in S&D,and need more practice. But one good thing about S&D is the awsome feeling of accomplishment you get when your team pulls of some pre-thought out strategies that catch the enemy by suprise

S&D is always good when there are full servers :)

the objective games are the best. am guessing team death match is popular cuz u never have 2 wait 2 spawn. when u die u instantly respawn, not really accountable for your actions.

S&D is fun :D and domination. yet 2 play sabotage on a full server.

I do play DM sometimes usually just to warm up I find everyone just rushes and spam in DM where as S&D people seem to play a lot smarter take there time and use cover which I enjoy a lot more.

But its one thing I have really enjoyed about the game is having different game modes to play not same old all the time.

I actually like it when I die in S&D (not too much mind you, and not getting sniped 2 secs into it) but then I can chill out, light up a smoke and watch everyone else.

Where I'm finding with TDM people get the 3 frags perk, nade, nade, nade die insta spawn... nade, nade, nade... rinse and repeat. OR worse use the Gl twice die, spawn with more ammo.

Free for all on Hardcore mode :D Love that shit.

S&D on Hardcore but not as much.

I think I've been playing Hardcore too much, I'm starting to not like how many bullets it takes to kill someone on normal mode :/

What perks?

I just don't enjoy the normal mode as much where whoever can spam the most in the vicinity of the person wins. You can hit someone 3 or 4 good shots and they can still turn around and kill you. eg yesterday when I came from behind at alienz and hit him about 6 times when he wasn't even facing me, then he turns and kills me... Made me RQ and gb2 GA 14.

Free-For-All fast paced, slaughter fest. Makes completing your head shot or other challenges a breeze due to your high kill count after each round.

HQ, Sabotage, TDM.
I don't mind SD but if your side aint working together, i'm always the first to bloody die.
Don't like and never will, DM...

Headquarters for me.

dont know - just like the fact that its team based but also random at teh same time. not always the same roll out like you get in bomb planting.

For me it is the other way around, and it fucks me off to no end. All i want to play is S&D, but the servers are always full.

need more S&D servers then...

also that sabotage can take ages to complete. Too long if not done correctly, you sure get to learn the map though.

What exactly is Sab? I've never played it. Just played first proper rounds of S&D with decent teamwork and it was awesome :D

brucewillis2
22nd November 2007, 03:44 PM
the round starts and each team spawns at either side of the map, the bomb is placed in the middle. each team can pick up the bomb and plant it at a location within the enemy spawn. It's a tough slog because the fuse is about 40-50secs long.

games can take ages. It teaches you all the camping spots, most traveled routes, good locations to cover choke points. The match normally ends in a change map vote.

Arseynimz
22nd November 2007, 04:36 PM
The longer fuse times on some servers makes it pretty ridiculous, but we've config'd our server to have the fuse time the same as the S&D ICONZ tourney, so you can have a good few rounds S&D style, with a twist!!!

I like HQ having played abit more recently, but the hunt, and teamwork of Sabotage is good stuff!

Yeah about 5 minutes seems to be a good time to set a sabotage round limit...once that is reached, the game turns into a "sudden death" no respawn match...I think its a good mix of hard out gun fights with more S&D tactics at the end.

brucewillis2

but the hunt The hunt is great... You basically become the target for the whole team. Don't keep moving without reinforcements and you're a dead man.

Imo 5 mins is way to short, to many rounds would end in sudden death if both teams were equally skilled(the best part, equally skilled teams fighting it out back and forth), personally id rather one team score rather than it come to sudden death to determine the winning team, sure a time limit of some kind = sudden death but not omg 5mins thats way to ADD...

does it really matter if a gametype has been used in a previous game?

i'd hate to imagine how many times CTF has been used.

Exactly - some game types are gonna be infinitely better in some games than in others, and of course that will always be a matter of opinion for those that play. The more variety, the more options we all have to play the game, and that is why there are over 6,500 servers at the time I write this!

More variety means we get more of a challenge when playing various maps, and thus means game longevity (albeit any good game will get it's own share of longevity just cos we all like it).

What he said you can have some awesome pitched battles in sabotage, before you even get the chance to plant let alone pick up the bomb..

LOL good call

***runs off to up my dosage of Ritolin***

actually was saying this from doing internal clan matches on our server, 4v4 and 5v5. Its probably true that 5 minutes is 2 short for more players. With smaller numbers you can usually get the bomb planted in time...also means a 5 round match can be played without kissing the whole night goodbye when the teams are even.

So far I have only played TDM, Sabotage (first time last night) and S&D. I reallty like S&D and sabotage was great fun, you can see the potential for team work there. I just die to early to be a part of it and then spend me time trying to catch up to the team, and then die ...

Scrimming in S&D, or sabotage would be awesome.
