So whats there to do after rank 55?

ive done about 95% of the achievements and unlocked all my favourite guns but now the game is just endless spam. The maps seem far too small for anythign except running non stop with the fire button down.

there's no goals any more. could this be what makes the game a quick fling rather than a lifelong relationship?

BF2 took 700 hours of my life and I didn't get close to finishing all the achievements.

CS:S - you can unlock everything you need in 2 rounds.

COD4 is in the middle somewhere.

imo after a zillion hours of bf2 my conclusion is kdr>rank(and all the bs that comes with it, whoope fn do..)

I still haven't bought COD4, and probably won't for a few reasons, no time, no monies, don't enjoy cod games online (slightly dodge call since I haven't played COD4 specifically online, but don't directly intend to).

The rank/challenge system is awesome, why?

Because it gave you plenty of motivation and things to do, spiced up the game. Makes it better then css in the respect that, you were rewarded for something, and better then bf2 in the fact that you didnt have to give up your life to go anywhere.

Its all about balance.

I understand why you would be hacked off about the rank unlock thing. Personally I am not fully into ranks....but I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy ranking up and getting challanges.

I think you'll find with next big patch that things will change or a soon to follow expansion, anyway i just playing for the fun of it now. plus the shiny golden desert egeal looks prutty :P

Killer makes a good point. After playing BF2 which the unlocks took days to weeks to get, the top medals took months. These challenges are over pretty quickly or you end up not caring anymore.

I got into the challenges at the start, and another few days and I'll have all the unlocks I need. Then I guess I'll get into scrimming to see how that flows.

teamdeath match ain't the gametype to play, play the objective based gametypes. much more rewarding. personally if they remove teamdeath match and free for all from the servers I won't be complaining.

Nothing like being the last man alive you whole team spectating you and to take out the remaining enemy players and defuse the bomb.

the are different, challenges vs the grind. Challenges are over by completely it once in CoD4 (weapon challenges take longer) but in BF2 it was a grind 400hrs in a chopper and then the focus got shifted to KDR which really started stuffing things up.

Anyone notice that when you watch replays, they see your player at a different position to where you were? I lean around a corner and can hardly see a metre around I'm so close, and on the replay of me getting killed I'm not even near the wall.

COD4 has ingame VOIP which bugger all people use.

You can use Vent/TS but as the teams are 'auto-balanced' it's quite likely that you will end up on the opposite team.

There is no concept of squads in COD4 as all of the players on your side are your squad. Getting them to play with the same objective is another story.

apparently there is patch coming out to fix this...GA has some info on site...its a known glitch....

Also GA are talking about customising their server to make game play less spammy...sorry lost the page but it is googlable...

scrimming this game is 10x better than playing on the pubs, although thats the same with any game. but playing without the shit perks and without nade launchers makes the game alot more enjoyable.

No really, you haven't. That's the thing with it, they made it massively noob friendly. All you need to do is see someone for a fraction of a second, turn and shoot, forget about aiming just point up a little, and it always goes through the window or just over the barrier they're behind.

bit late, i know, but personally my favourite ranking system was in BF2142, where you get points towards your next rank from the medals, ulock system was good, just maybe still a little bit short yeah. But bf2 is by far too long lol
