View Full Version : Tournament Server tonight

Hazard

I'm going to switch one of the servers to a server running the current tournament config tonight.

It will not be password protected for now, so feel free to jump in and have a muck around and get a feel for the general tournament settings.

Please do note, the config is NOT final, so there may be a few minor things tweaked and altered. But it will at least give you a good feel for things.

I'm going to be doing some closed testing with a couple of clans very soon to test out and confirm a final config. Once this is done I will put that config on the open server for everyone to have a play with.

The server should be up around 6:30pm tonight

everyone should also make sure they have the 1.1 patch,

as you risk losing your rank/unlocks when you play on an unranked server
if you haven't.

Server is up - 210.48.63.136:28990

The server name is ICONZ Tournament Test
If you are using the server browser make sure you turn on the mod filter.
The best way to connect is press ~ and type /connect 210.48.63.136:28990

There will be a couple of things that may be a bit odd for pub play, but keep in mind that it's all based around the tournament matches with manual restarts when the game is about to go live, etc. Also, as mentioned, this is NOT the final config - more just a chance for people to get a basic feel of how the tournament will play.

Enjoy :D

ok for a start what just got dled to my pc?
wheres the warning that stuff is getting downloaded?

it downloads 2 mod files to your PC, they sit in the mods directory and do not overwrite any configs or player info, completely different directories.

It's the same with any unranked/mod server you join.

If you dont want things downloaded automatically, you can either press ~ then type /disconnect and itll stop downloading or you can go into multiplayer options then turn off the download setting. But you wont be able to play modded servers without downloading the server files.

I have an unranked/modded tournament server and it does _not_ download anything to the client as it is using the standard z_modwarfare.iwd. Your server however, is using a modded version of the z_modwarefare.iwd file. Modded by CyberGames I see.

_globallogic.gsc and _modwarfare.gsc have been altered. From what I can see the _modwarfare.gsc contain client DVAR enforcement around clientfog and clientfxdraw. These should be done in the punkbuster and in fact are included in the pbsv.cfg in here (http://forums.iconzarena.co.nz/showthread.php?t=33934)

Lastly, the PB config on the tournament server does not appear to be enforcing any client DVARs, (I know the server config is not finalised but as yet no mention of pb config) do you intend to implement a PB config to block the standard COD DVAR exploits or other stuff?

Still only a risk, because it never happend to me,and now that I have 1.1,now only do I have problems.

Apparently the issue was around the command line the server(s) were executed.

if set:
...+set dedicated 2 +set fs_game "mods/modwarfare" +set....
and client not patched... no problems

if set:
...+set dedicated 2 +set fs_game "mods\modwarfare" +set....
and client not patched... big problems!

if set:
...+set dedicated 2 +set fs_game "mods\modwarfare" +set....
and client patched... no problems

Again, apparently...

try changing the name of the Mods directory to mods (remove the capital).
It's off the root of the install directory.

Is it just me or do those two lines look the same apart from the no problems / big problems?

Edit: scratch that / vs \

took a coupla reads to sort that out ... phew i feel so much better

Hazard
21st November 2007, 11:06 AM
the / vs \ thing was to do with actually getting the server to run. If you used \ instead of /, the mod just wouldn't kick in.

Pre-1.1 patch, ANY unranked/mod server you joined would result in your stats/rank being wiped unless you took a backup.

This is what 1.1 fixed, so now you can join an unranked/mod server without risk of your profile being cleared.

If the server was set to run "+set fs_game mods\modwarfare" it simply wouldn't run the mod. So you join the server and only some of the specified changes would be in effect. To resolve that, you had to run the server with "+set fs_game mods/ModWarfare". Also, note that the use of upper and lowercase.

Complete pain in the rear end.

Hazard, any comment regarding PB above? in terms of what will be implemented there?? Also, will the CG modded z_modwarfare.iwd be used??

Hazard
21st November 2007, 09:50 PM
I'm doing some closed testing with a couple of teams tonight, once that's all done I will provide more details on config, etc.

the .iwd files will be auto downloaded as you join the server.
So best to get the one automatically from the server to avoid any conflicts.
