View Full Version : Too many players kills the game.

Because the maps are all designed for CQB and because the guns shoot through everything - and because the collision stuff works correctly and wont let you pass two and a time through door ways - having too many people on the maps ruins the games.

what is a tactical and carefully planned assault style game turns into a complete TK and Tard frag fest when the map goes from 18 to 30 players.

i think the sweet spot for the majority of the maps would be around 20... except for the shipyard one which is probably best 4 on 4.

thoughts?

Agreed. I don't think any maps should be running more then 20 players, otherwise it does turn into a tard fest with far to may Tk'ers.

I agree, 32 players on the smaller CQB maps is a clusterf*ck. Is there any chance of say removing a 32 player server and replacing it with 2 x 16 player CQB ???

Other then that I think Iconz is doing a great job with the servers. Cheers Temp and Haz

8 on 8? It's a good format.

Rounds and games are too short imo, the S&D ones from memory, first to 4 rounds or something and only a couple mins a round? Best of 11 with 4 or 5 mins/round?

Maybe I am confusing iconz with GA or some other servers, but most seem to have rounds and games way too short :S

Totally agree, playing in that server this arvo with you was absolute shit, everyone complaining about friendly fire etc. The lag didnt help much (170+ to iconz yet <80 on gamers? wtf?)

agreed. one time an enemy threw a nade and all 3 of us where trying to squeeze through a door and the fken thing killed us all. there are wayyy to many tks. (i tk cos everyone looks the same lol. or there names never show up) 20 or less i reckon. maybe make a small free for all server...?

More 16 player servers are needed. 32 player is a waste of bandwidth.

Interesting to hear, and here I was dissapointed the 360 can only handle 16 players.

Some of the best games have been the 4on4 or 5on5's from what I've seen since nearly everyone sluts up the 'penetration' perk.

I do like the way the game has a little for everybody in terms of people who like death match or team death match etc.

but its pretty obvious they intended this to be a console 16p game with the size of the maps.

Its never going to be like jellybad IO or Karkand IO where you actually can have 64p on it and still have spots to yourself.

Even the big maps struggle with 30p.

Do i actually need to make a formal request to change the number of players or are iconz still testing the game generally before they make any changes?

yeah... I'd have to agree as well....
no sooner you spawn and you get killed in some circumstances..
a few less players on the maps would be a good thing IMO

you have to remember bf2 maps were designed to have vehicles on them, not for IO.

the maps are on average about the same as cs, with some alot smaller, but some alot bigger also, which is as they should be for an fps (not vehicles).

best games I've had so far are 6 or 7 players a side. Joined a 32 player server and and honestly it was a horrible experience, far worse than a bad day on badjelly, snipers everywhere, noob launchers, spam, nades, airstrike, chopper... yuk! yuk! yuk!

Really they should cut ALL servers down to 16 player servers. Let's play the game how it was intended to be played.

yea i have to say when its full some maps with 32 people crammed in them are silly... u get stuck in places when u spawn cos u got ur own team infront of you blocking a door and then another guy blocking the back door... n u sit there waiting for someone to either die or move. and sit their praying some cracker doesnt get a noob tube into ya.

yea think this will create better gaming for all,

the most enjoyable games i have had are late night when the server dies down a bit and there are only 8/9/10/11 a side at least 99% of the time you wont die when spawning in and 80% you will die to a gun as oppose to a nade

If they change from 32 to 16 they will just add another 16 on the same server I'm guessing.

yea hope this is the case you can only see more and more people playing too... as people are waiting on the cod4 still for various reasons and the player base is going to be quite large i think.

It's massive already internode are running 30 servers.. not sure how many GA are running. Iconz and gamers.net.nz.

probably about 75% - 80% of those are full to the brim. The game is big.

less numbers makes more homo campers.

brucewillis2
15th November 2007, 01:37 PM
less numbers make less homo campers. You basically have to be smart when playing with less numbers and sound becomes a big factor, listening for movement, and backing up your teammates correctly. positioning is important. In fact the less players the better. 3 v 3 is good because it hopefully limits the amount of UAV people use.

I don't like those UAV, airstike, chopper upgrades. If you had to have one it would be airstrike but with no UAV. that would be good. You estimate the location of the enemy and the enemy gets a chance to get cover. That attack chopper can take a hike.

i think your worng bruce as it will make people hide more, thay will use uav jamer and silancer, then camp it up. with 32 its more like old school fps hard and farst

At least the choppers seem to go down to one RPG round, though you're risking your neck facing skywards, and you don't get many RPG rounds to spare.

interesting. Ok I'm going to agree/disagree with you. You are right when it's teamdeath match and free for all.

BUT when it comes to objective gametypes you won't run of and find a hiding spot thats away from the objective. Last night (seek n destroy) I noticed it was a slow push from the start to try and spot enemy movement then move to cover the plant spot, they would slowly move in knowing we would be defending either spot. It was intense slow paced action and was pretty cool.

You do get the hard and fast action when both teams locations are revealed and it comes down to a quick firefight. So the games last night flowed like this :tactical, intense, fast, action, result - can't ask much more from a game than that. :rnr:

/EDIT no GL's allowed last night so no long distance camping using that. Made for a better game.

i played that shipyard map today,

32 v 32

was mayhem

all it was was 5 kills, airstrike, 6th, Heli, repeat, repeat, repeat....

stats padding if ever i saw it lol

playing with less numbers does increase camping - but it also increases strategy. And there is nothing more satisfying than being the last one left on your team, with everybody watching you, and you knifing the last two dudes camping the bombsite so you can plant.

I have seen a lot of people commenting about camping its not CSS if you are playing S&D on the defending team you should be camping its called defense.

Well thats my opinion anyway plus the game is very different and like you say fiskit it happens more with smaller numbers but reason being you have to use cover a lot more and play a lot smarter you cant rush as much which is a good thing.

The only thing I think is stupid camping when your on the attacking team you start having camping snipers miles away from the bomb sites.

camping.

It is interesting though - in a one v one confrontation - the game seems to give the person moving the advantage over the person hiding and not moving.

well at least that's been my experience

32 players on any of the maps is lame. and it gets o soooo much worse when the maps r the small ones. what were they thinking puting in that tiny map, the square one with the containers... jesus.
