Did anyone else feel like crysis demo was a let down? I've been following this for ages and I'm a fan of farcry, but the demo didn't make me want to buy it. (I still am though seeing as I've pretty much paid for it already..,.)

It felt awkward, and from going from Farcry to Crysis felt like BF2 to BF2142.

Graphics are sweet but that's pretty much all I see going for this game ATM.

I don't think I'm going to enjoy MP with the Nano suit....

What do other people think.....?

Its pretty much what i expected and i love it.
The tweakguides guy pretty much sums it all up. The modding tools are very impressive as well, im not sure if its the demo i like more or sandbox2.

The performance disapointed me as well...My 8800GTS 320 Stock OC was pulling 20fps in dx9 at 1680x1050 with no AA...or 1024x786 with full AA both settings on High...

Maybe that sounds silly...But IMO it should run better..

Plus I've got issues with objects being stretched...

Still its only the demo...Maybe the full version will be better, I've also herd that a update on the Nvidia drivers should be able improve the performance...

played the demo on vista dx10, well the gfx were awesome, but not my taste i guess,
dont think thisl be a good mulitiplayuer game too, too slow and boring,
takes about 5 bullets to kill one guy, and tht gun wont work as a sniper, cos it never hit, specialy whn trying to kill tht guy shooting from the boat.
sandy beach and the sea did look nice but its nothing surprising to me.

If you have played the beta you'd know there are much better guns which kill a lot quicker.

Just played the game through on 1920x what ever and 16qx AA or what ever and got a constant 18 FPS.

Well im pretty fucked off.

The game is stunning visually. Wow, its gorgeous.

The game play is different. The nano suit takes it to a new level.

It has a new(ish) story line, but plays it well and the start movie was fucking awesome!

Boo. Thats fucking lame. I get 10-25FPS with x8Q (AA) and every setting on Medium. So tell me, how the fuck is anyone gonna run this with DX10 and all settings on Ultra High? Haha thats a joke. You will need and overclocked Quad Extreme with 4GIG DDR3 RAM and a couple of SLi Ultras, and thats for half decent FPS. Nothing amazing.

I backed this game hard at the BETA becasue the code was "unoptimized"...

Tbh it felt better in the BETA. With 200 ping and all the same settings i was getting 50-100FPS on that huge map.

You know, i think there are going to be a lot of disappointed people out there...

I don't see what everyone is complaining about, it is a next gen game. Of course we aren't going to be getting superb FPS. But then again, you don't need great FPS, I get 18-25 FPS constantly and play the game fine, no lag what so ever. I love it.

I think the 8800GTS will be the card that will just get you through the game on fairly bad settings, like the.. 6600(GTS) was for BF2.. Although I could run BF2 on high with mine.. what ever.

But yea, people will have to upgrade their systems and stop blaming the game. It is a very graphically intense game and requires a high end system to run it perfectly.

have you got all latest drivers etc?

i am running ultra high settings on my 8800gts 320mb and i got 20+ frames all the time which i think is pretty sweet.

no AA thou but running at standard reso it isnt really needed
BETA drivers.

1440x900 res

All medium settings. I might give it a go with no AA and Ultra High.

Something's wrong with your rig Swindle, I'm running a SHIT pc and I'm getting ok frames on medium settings at 1280x960 and 4x AA.

Oh and fraps slows your FPS down considerably FYI. It should never be used to get an accurate FPS reading.

I have to disagree with the whole Fraps thing. I have run the game with and without fraps and get exactly the same reading.

Also when I was running fraps in the editor it was saying that I was getting 20 fps and the editor was saying i was getting 20 fps and if it went up or down fraps showed it perfectly.

But yea I do agree there is something wrong with your rig.

FFS, if you can't accept the fact that your zomgwtf gfx card can't handle it, then have a think about it. This is a next generation game. The 8800 series has been out for about 10 months. That's not cutting edge. Just turn the settings down a little until you can upgrade.

Swindle, I find lowering post processing helps quite a bit without lowering the quality of the visuals too much.

PS. I'm not disappointed. Multiplayer was never the deciding factor for me, and the single player campagin looks fucking pwnage.

I'm playing 1900 x 1200 with no AA and it runs it sweet on my Vitsa O/S

Did you guys who run this on Vista download the Hotfix for Vista Memory Allocation. I did and I think it helps.

But I dont know about this game yet, my gut feeling is that COD4 is going to be the MP game. Something about the hit reg I'm not sure about, but then I havent tried many

I'm still getting this game as I loved Farcry so much (still have the box on the shelf). Lets see what happens?

If I have to buy another 8800GTX for SLI well then so be it :)

So you would prefer if the game was made so it can run on current systems at Ultra but when the 9800/8900's come out the game is outrun by the next best thing. Crytek have designed Crysis so that it will last, they have built the game so that it will be totally awesome for a while yet. Instead of building a game for today, they have made one for today, tomorrow and next week.

This game is the next leap in graphics of coarse your not going to able to run on ultra high and get 60 FPS + thats why I could never understand why when the 8800 came a lot of people went out and paid big coin for them when the game was still a long time away when my old 7900Gt still gets 50FPS + on any games out at the moment.

I mean look at Farcry how many people did you know with rigs that could run farcry on max when it first came out most people I new could not even run it.

This game will be a bench mark for all hardware for a long time and hardware will catch up.

I think the graphics look amazing and I have only run it on DX9 on medium and still looks good it must look wicked on high with DX10.

One thing I really liked about it was the physics the trees falling over the buildings being destructible it looked realistic.

YES! I spent $950 on an 8800GTX so I can play this game at a respectable frame rate. I distinctly remember posts made that this game would run on ultra settings with a GTS. I'm pretty annoyed. All the talk about Crytek being the "kings of optimization" is a load of shit. I didn't pay that much money to run a game on medium, especially after all the fan boys fucking harping on about how great Crytek sucks the cock and that it will only need a GTS...

I'm angry now. Bring on COD4!!!

I like the game, and it runs on my system so I have nothing to complain about.

Unlike you who wants to complain about everything. If you don't like it, don't play it, and don't come in the forums. It's quite simple really, even for you ;)

I also like rFactor, GTR2, CoD4 (or at least the demo), I've been playing a bit more BF2 and CSS. So quite a variety of games really.

TBH I would have really have been disappointed in Cryteck if you could run it easy with current system its mean the graphics are not that bigger step forward.

Don't take offense to this guys but you got to ask yourself when you buy a new card for top dollar for game that still 8 months away what did you really expect.

I have never been able to understand why people rushed out and brought new 8800 when first came out when really there was no games you needed them for.

Plus there first card in a new generation which is never that good I have brought a 8000Gt now because there cheap and I need it but as soon as the 9 series comes its gone.
I have waited this hole time to buy a new rig I said as soon as crysis is out or there abouts then I would upgrade.

Like I say once again this game is a massive leap in gaming graphics I would say could be up to even year year half before then is any hardware out that can run this on ultra high and get top FPS on it.

The bottom line to is who gives a shit what FPS your getting as long as the game runs smooth get over it.

when I get my new rig on Monday if i can run it on DX10 and on high/medium with no major slow downs I will be a very happy man.

Get out your old FarCry disks, install it, turn on full fruit and then compare it to what you get from the same system running Crysis.

Apples to Apples - FarCry is visually a lot better on the same HW than what you get with Crysis.

Yeah thats a little annoying but we were told ages ago that it had to be scaled back to run on current hardware and that updates will be avaliable as the hardware catches up.

The most dissapointing issue is the delay on the release date.

well ive been playing the full version for the past 8 hours today. and i can confirm yes it is 100% pure awesome. no its not just constant jungle fights, so far its been a 50/50 mix of jungle and (spoilers dont wanna ruin it for ya), and no you dont just run off alone for the whole game infact theres quite a large scale battle on the 4th level with jets flying low overhead and explosions going off everywhere

I think i am either 1/2 to 3/4 the way through so far but theres not way to tell.

It also runs very nicely, better than the demo but not by much. I am running all high settings on my 320gts and getting a constant 30-40fps except when i am in *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers*.

Anyways im sure everyone will enjoy it and bring on the multiplayer!

It was sort of DOA and i underclocked it to resolve the artifacts. I was going to hang onto it until i had played crysis this weekend, but when i saw the delay i decided to get it replaced.
