WOW.

Now I am starting to get the hang of this game it is AWESOME.

Some great weapon upgrades which you get from completing your tasks and objectives.

In the screenshot thread I've posted the scoreboard - this is the first time I really started to understand some of what you have to do.

Press M to get the map, then click on one of the points - you can either defend it, for which you don't get many Prestige points. Or attack one yo don't hold. Some of these points may be energy factories. Others may be prototype factories. Once you take a prototype factory you have access to the "toys". In other words better guns. I had a mini gun which I used to take a load of dudes out with. Then I got this blaster which wasn't so effective against infantry so I wonder if it was for vehicles - only one way tp find out htough :)

Can't wait to play some more, and hopefully when the demo comes out there will be local servers for us to play on.

And so far I've found it AWESOME. Takes a while to get used to it, and TBH I still haven't completely mastered it but the game sure is fun once you get the hang of it.

One thing I really like is that you rank up during the game so it's not a case of hours played = better guns. It's actually play the game properly, accomplish your objectives and you get more Prestige points and can afford to buy better weapons etc.

I haven't explored many of the classes yet, but I will do at the weekend.

How do you update the beta? i got my beta key today installed a copy of the beta my mate downloaded, cant join any servers, i noticed my version is out of date, is there an incremental patch

its the 512mb variant. But what you need to remember is this is a beta with unfinished code running in debug mode. I also believe my cpu maybe letting it down as well.

Im sure the demo will look and run completely different on this card when it comes out next week.

I think the 79 series should be fine on at least medium settings. Maybe just lower the resolution to 1024x768 if its that bad. I got a 7900 GTO 512MB which is almost as good as the GTX, so I'm hoping I shouldn't have too much of a problem. I think it's a waste of money upgrading since I got this card less than a year ago, and I think the 89 series and eventually 9 series will wipe out the 8800 gtx's

Well this is a server beta as much as it is a client beta. The more control and access they have to servers the more they can debug.

Yeah man it blows my mind. On css or 2142, if i get 200 ping im fucked, on this, 200ping is like 50-80 in css/2142.

I found a great little camping spot which no one seems to look at and you can see most of the map. Very surpised when i started sniping people and the distance meter showed --- :)

Fucking hooked! Awesomes beyond all expectatiuons. Make ETQW looks so fucking amazingly terrible.

Im loving the SCAR with a silancer and sniper scope attachments. Also the AK-47 style rifle is pretty cool to have as a secondary.

I get better hitreg in this BETA with 200 ping then i do in Css. Wonder how they fucked it up so bad. Anywho...

Its kinda hard to tell the difference between the US and the NK from afar, gotta wait for the name to pop up. Had a real fucking cool moment, where i had just come out of capturing the war factory, and from the right this dude was fucking nailing up the hill in a ute, i shoot out his windscreen as he was barreling towards me, i jumped out of the way and he spun around, started coming for me again, so i reloaded and started filling the ute with lead. All of a sudden...BOOM!!! A tank someone made in the factory blasted this ute out as it was heading towards me, happened about 3 meters in front of me i shit you not. Fuck it was cool.

Yeah normally no one see you there. Took me awhile to get you, at that distance the crosshair was flying all over the place.

After a bit i spotted someone try to get up there, im guessing it was you. So i hid in some bushes then the game CTD.

Also, it may have just been me but I couldn't even hear any of the gunfire when I died. All of a sudden I'd just fall down and I guess I was dead.

Also, on the spawn screen.. WTF am I meant to do? I click join US or NK or what ever and then click on a spawn point and click done and nothing happens, so I click M again and slect auto join.. Nothing happens.. I click it 3 more times and it works.

Also, how do you swap seats in vehicles? :P

Settings all set to high, 1280x1024, with no AA, I'm sitting a little above 30fps for the most part in the BETA. This is in Vista x64, with the latest 163.71 beta drivers. Man I hope this isn't any indication of the final game performance. I have no XP install on this rig to compare with at the moment.

I think I may need to update my drivers since inanimate objects sometimes flicker yellow with Compiling Shader written all over them :P

Trying to find out my FPS at the moment but not a single server is letting me join, it just says connecting and doesn't stop, bloody annoying. I get 650FPS in the menu though :asian:

AA isnt in the game and your under a NDA so use the forum provided to discuss the game or youll lose your key

wow this game is like quakewars without the suck. Graphics are mint and also totally playable at the 250 ping available to us NZ players. I can see sniper rifles will be a complete killer for the game so I hope they address this somehow (I am dropping people in numbers while they are running across the map and im no pro sniper).
Once the collision bugs and the graphical gliches are fixed this could be the next big thing, the game we all hoped ETQW could have been.:bounce:

ahh well im from a rival game developer (doomsberg, my e-mail is still thre :P ) and im going to use the infomation you've posted to develop my game crysissy which wont have graphical problems in the beta.

Exactly, because it's not as though they fix anything from the beta in the full game.. It's not as though the whole point of a beta is to fix those bugs eh? Lol! What an aidea though.

Anyways. Just had my first play on the new release and am getting very weird problems.

Like what Brox mentioned - Heaps of objects don't render and get plastered with complining something and I randomly freeze for 2-6 or so seconds.

My graphics card seems to buzz from when I first click on the icon until I get in game aswell.

Fun yes, but an excessive amount of bugs. I'll give it to ET:QW, the BETA, bug wise, was much better. There are a few things that annoy the hell out of me, like when you have a bunker selected to spawn on, but then is captured, it resets your spawn clock, which is shithouse. I've also been getting an annoying sound glitch, kind of like the gun jam in Bf2. Also, I can't believe they don't have a team death match mode - that is an excessively poor call imo. Sure, the mode they have is a bit of fun, but personally I sometimes like it simple, and the current game mode is ruined by camping fucktards not carrying out the objectives.

Improvements I would like to see:

- Squad system introduced with closed Voip. Open voip is pointless and open to abuse.
- Fixing the spawn clock problem.
- Again, make the game a little less spammy. People just stand there going from side to side. The speed is good, but punish accuracy while strafing so quickly.
- Vehicles improved. Why can't anyone get teh vehicles right ffs? I can only hope the vehicles they are using are more or less Alpha stage, coz they feel, and look, like shit.

This game is going to be really, really lame with small numbers of people on servers. Its going to be fall of camping tards and the action is going to be so slow.

I don't have much faith in this game for scrimming. It seems to lack much tactical depth, especially in comparison to the Battlefield series and Quake Wars. Also, scrims would take so long, and require at least 12 on 12 imo.

This BETA, definitely, definitely feels like a BETA. Its laggy, looks like shite, and sounds not good.

BUT, there is certainly promise for a very very fun game. Despite the quality of the BETA, I have enjoyed playing it a lot more than QW. The objective based game play focusses the action, but doesn't create an over amount of chokepoints like QW. The fact that there is absolutely no difference between the teams is a let down, in that they have access to exactly the same stuff.

Attachment system works exceptionally well. Suit is fun and it is all about the speed you can change between one and then the other which will make you effective in using it. Speed then a massive jump down onto an opponent is the goods.

FarCry used to have that one too, ie - you killed a guy and you caried on hearing his gun fire until you left that area and came back later.

First Impressions:
Although the graphics for Crysis are awesome, it still feels like a 'been there, done that' type of game so far. Lacks originality (gameplay wise) imo.


It also seems to have strong elements of past games, so much so that if I almost feel like I'm playing Command & Conquer Renegade for example:

I'm not really picking on the Crysis MP, just pointing out one of it's weaker points. I do enjoy playing it and it looks really good, however gameplay is more important than eye candy at the end of the day.

It does imo feel like a single player game solely made into a multi player game as an after thought, just to rake in more customer$$ without having the same passion/effort put into making it.

Hopefully the end product will be all that it has been hyped up to be (and more importantly bug/problem free).

GUys, I'm not playing the beta, waiting for demo and release. But isnt the beta still for XP and not vista (and therefore directx10).

Surely once the game comes out it will have alot of the bugs out of it and the reason we all are looking forward to it is the fully destructable environment and the awesome graphics??? You have to love blood in a FPS.

GUys, I'm not playing the beta, waiting for demo and release. But isnt the beta still for XP and not vista (and therefore directx10).

Surely once the game comes out it will have alot of the bugs out of it and the reason we all are looking forward to it is the fully destructable environment and the awesome graphics??? You have to love blood in a FPS.

DX9 games will run on both Vista & XP. DX10 games will only run on Vista. Crysis (should) ship as both DX9 & DX10, so you can pick which flavour you install.

Yes that is correct and knew that, but my question to you guys who are playing the beta, isnt it just for XP at present and not Vista hence some things are still not in the game that will be under vista when released.

The DX9 beta works on Vista, there is no DX10 beta (currently). Vista users can play the DX9 beta, but wont get any of the extra eye candy/graphical shite that DX10 will give you. And if you think about it, MP FPS is all about gameplay, not eye candy - so it's easy to understand why there's been no DX10 release yet.

Ok you're making a lot of assumptions X. We haven't heard anything about changing the map sizes. There are only 2 confirmed modes of play, this and deathmatch. When I'm talking about the vehicles I'm talking about how they feel to drive and the animations when firing them - i can get into the damn things ok. With the spawn thing, sometimes the clock doesn't come up and I have to mash keys, but my main gripe is certainly a game mechanic, whether intentional or not is a different story. When you chose a bunker and the clock starts counting down, and that bunker goes neutral say with 3 secs left, the counter resets, thats my problem, you should be able to spawn instantly at another bunker instead of waiting again.

As for scrimming, in all fairness the tactics are minimal. There are no support classes - medics and the like. There are no spawning methods. Much of your team will have to defend points. This game will be fun to play on pubs, but after playing the BETA, I think I'm going to have to put some faith into COD4 for my competitive game, or else buy ET:QW, which frankly, and it pains me to say this, strikes me as being far superior for competitive gameplay.

I see you never 'moderated' that page (3). Maybe you don't like opinions that may differ from your own?

I followed the NDA as instructed and never used specific elements original to Crysis or it's technical aspects to convey MY impression of the game so far. I compared the gameplay to that of Command And Conquer: Renegade (not under NDA), and said that the graphics were very good (not in any way specific to the NDA).

If I wanted to talk about the beta in specifics I would go to the actual beta testing forums to share information which will add constructively to the completion of the game. I came here to share my IMPRESSION so far outside of beta testing.

Maybe you are a little too invested in this game to be moderating objectively... or maybe you should release your own NDA (No Dissecting Agreement) so everyone knows only to talk the game up rather than point out it's good AND bad points.

Lock the thread if we can't discuss the OP topic.

Tbh the new BETA client is fucking amazing. THe changes they have made are wicked. Game is running better, nicer GFx wise and the sounds have improved. Can't wait for the full game now, really itching to get my hands on a copy.

EDIT: Oh, and the Internode servers are awesome.
