What settings are you running

Got a 7900GT 256 today and was wondering what settings people where using and what frame rates you are getting.

I was running 1280 x 960 @85 everything turned up high with 2 x AA.

Was around 60 to 85 FPS most of the time but was getting drop to around 45 at times but no lower in full on fire fights was around 50.

I tried turning the lighting down and AA off but did not really make that much difference.

It still smooth as but was just wondering what other people where getting and what settings you are using.

and i get about 40fps

buttt... i don't have a 7900gt either :)

I have got 100% draw distance on.

I have played with a 6800 128 AGP for ages pretty cool being able to play with eye candy for once.

Seems like 2142 is a lot harder on you rig and card then Bf2.

I found with my 6800 i used to play Bf2 with all lighting of and medium settings for texture ext with 100 view I used to get around 40-50 FPS when I went to 2142 I used the same settings but got really bad frame drop when shit exploded or arty went off I had to turn it all down to low.


I actully wonder whether it is because of largely increased graphics which I don't understand as its the same engine or it is just shit performance from the game itself.

oh yeah, um not the best - usually 30 or 40 if i'm lucky, and can drop to 19 occasionally which can be pretty nasty, but I just put up with it cuz I like my graphics looking sweet while i'm fraggin' :rnr:

Everything on full. Except for AA which won't go to 6x, because it's a bastard. 1280x1024 @ 75hz. 90-99 FPS when wandering about, dropping to minimum of 30 during big explosion scenes.

Can't wait to get new rig setup. It will be sex.

Why the hell do you need 8x AA lol... it looks pretty much perfect on 4x if you're using a high resolution.

We all the know the real reason you have Lighting set to Low, and I think that's pretty gay but whatever. If you need that little advantage then good for you. :p

Yuh but most people can run the game with lighting/shadows on so if you've got a good decent card but still play with Lighting on Low it's obvious why and kinda lame tbh.

For you guys running on resolution of: 1280x960 you can actually force the game to set the resolution to 1280x1024 if you want.

just add '+szx 1280 +szy 1024' (without the commas) into the target window of a shortcut to BF2142.

What settings Arnifix? I could still play Titan mode with most things medium-high, and Lighting on Medium. Yeah a bit of slowdown but mostly due to the shitty titan lag...

does anyone know how much a higher resolution contributes towards frame-rate?

I'm not 100% sure the situations in which it appears, but if I have the Dynamic lighting and shadows on anything but high, I cannot see the textures inside the titan, they're all black. It's a widespread common problem, though I believe I have it worse than most because I chose to use ATI video cards. Fucking EA rapist cunts.

I use an ATI card (all Radeon cards are ATI right?) and i've never experienced that problem.

also check if that Custom Lighting setting (whatrever its called) is turned off aswell, it doesn't even do anything really but might be part of the problem.

the advanced lighting is the bloom light effect. meaning if your standing inside the titan everything outside is super bright, then when you go outside everything inside is super dark, like when you go to the movies during the day when you first walk out everything is intence then it goes normal.

Which happened to me when I set my settings like that. Hated it and changed it back.

Can't be arsed messing around with it, and if people want to take advantage that's up to them, me I just set it back to what my system can handle and play like that. Oh and I'm too much of a computer noob to work out what I need to do to make it right.

sweet as man, was just an observation really. I turned Lighting to low for the EAcup aswell anyway. :D just that if I had your card personally i would want to be using it to it's full potential but meh that's just me.

Have settings low-med, with low res. Occassionally (and it fluctuates) I get green flashing through the different textures. I'm not sure quite what that means. Is my card cooking??? :(
Gets a worse with higher settings.
I should get a screen shot of it really... :(

Well it's not oveclocked and the card is at 63C currently. I haven't actually checked it during game time.
When I do get it and esc to menu then back again it reduces the "green" effect. It subsequently gets worse again once i resume playing. However, if I play through, on a long round like tonight, the effect diminishes considerably )leaving me to rain leaden hell on people who can't aim assault rifles).

Might do the driver update, although did one quite recently.

I have been playing with settings bit I found taking enhanced lighting off gave me a large frame boost

My system smooth enough with high setting but I am trying to see if I can get a good high solid rate I am more into performance then eye candy TBH.

I rolled back drivers to 71.something (because i already had it on me'pc).
The green flicky thing chnaged to a purple flicky thing on the background terrain (e.g. the snow covered hills surrounding Cerbere landing).

Dropped settings back one by one and found AA and lighting caused the purple flicky apparition. No probs without, but it doesn't look as pretty without any lighting effects. :(

Moral of the story: just because EA says 2142 should run on the same machine as BF2 doesn't mean it will. I will refrain from EA bashing.

Well, I first saw the green flicky apparition of death (game would alos crash) with Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. I haven't bothered to try GRAW again since it got too frustrating trying to direct my retard squad members. E.g. "NO!, WTF ARE YOU DOING, YOU DUMB F'N BOT, I F'N HATE YOU!!!! FFS, I F'N HATE THIS GAME!" and so on... There is nothing "advanced" about GRAW's AI warfighters (little retards that they are).

But I digress, I've only had the prob with BF2142 and GRAW.
