Sunday's 2142 Frustration :)

Started the morning with the view to obtaining my Veteran knife.

First round got 8 before it ended.

Thought sweet get it next round............but alas the game has no honor, you pull out your knife and someone pulls out the support gun

So 5 rounds in a row I ended with only 8 kills........extreme frustration

Log back in in the afternoon, first round 10 kills, get my badge now I'm happy. Log out and then log back in to get my unlock.......shock horror my badge doesn't show! A few expletives are muttered over the next hour before it eventually shows up. In all I racked up around 60 knife kills trying to achieve my badge and unlike BF2 my KDR was positive and I didn't get a purple heart chasing my goal

Decide to play some Titan mode, jump on the ICONZ server and people have scores approaching 100, but the Titan shields are relatively intact! It appears that the missile silos were not firing, a stat padders dream come true :)

How did everyone elses sunday 2142 experience go?

But I hear ya about the honour amongst knifers - or lack of it. I was trying for my basic knife, but got to about 6 knife kills at best.

God knows how raven got 22 in one round...!!!!

I went up two ranks due to the low rank bug (your rank goes to recruit and you can get basic badges again). Got vet knife and a bunch of other awards as anybody on voip can tell you.

Xt: 64 player inf conquest map. With over 300 tickets you can do it easy. I just need to get the prereqs now.

lol that was a crack up, people in my sqaud raging @ silos not firing,

another one was that the silos wouldnt stop firing aswell, we ended a titan round in under 10mins, silos fireing everywhere,

From my sunday if i rememebered, Running round with the knife, flying the gunship for about 8 hours thta day, run round with a knife a bit more, maged to kill 4 enemys hiding in the titan :D

crashing the gunship then raging, as it cant do barrel rounds :cussing: fucken EA fucks

Was funny one round though on Berlin, ran up the stairs in to the building and managed to knife an entire squad following them up the stairs. I was like knife first one, think they will know I'm there and turn around, knife second, third, fourth fifth, sixth and none of them realised. They obviously don't use voip :)

The frustration can be worth it though 500 points for veteran badge, and 1000 for expert :) Although 17 kills for expert is going to be absolute frustration

well i found that if i hovered above the titan in a transport and people spawned and dropped out onto the titan u can get lots of points :P

More than destroying titan guns? Seems everyone knows the guns now, its a mad dash to the enemy mains to kill titan guns now :)

There are oh so many ways to exploit and whore points on titan mode. It's sad.

Could someone explain to me how destroying the enemy titan guns is whoring points? Isn't the same as destroying commander assets, it does help your team after all.

When you get is it 20 or 40 points for destroying titan guns which takes a minute or so vs blowing 3 commader assets where you would also need supplies and only receive 3 points there is a big difference

Think the main issue here is that there is no balance for points between conquest and titan modes.

If you want extreme ranking speed you play titan mode whereas playing conquest is a far slower way to rank up. I suppose one up side is stat whores are more likely to play titan leaving conquest with good solid players :P

Well i hads a good sunday up three ranks and expert knife :rnr: Got it with 8 tickets left on a full 32p conquest. I was stoked :)
Had a couple of good knife fights with :?: Crusafier(I think thats how you spell it). Was amazed how many times we found each in that map

It's the fact that if you destroy all four then you get a badge. Thats what gives you the points. So if you only get 2-3 you don't get the badge hence no points. The prob is that the commanders usually repair the guns as soon as they as gone so you can just keep going destroying the guns

Or the ones where you both empty your clips, switch to pistol and empty that clip then switch to knifes, and then to top it off some mongrel comes running past and shoots the guy!!!!!!

At least people won't have to park a jeep in water now to get expert repair or flipping RIB's near the carrier as was the case in BF2 :) plus they actually healping the team in the game by keeping them alive so I suppose thats one upside

Its 1 point for each gun, then if you kill 4 of them you get an award which is worth 20points.
You can get this award multiple times. They just need to either removed this award/change requirements or lower the points.

But its the same and titan defence/attack whoring. Its not hard to get 4+ of those awards each round.

quite frankly i get about 2 titan gun awards per round, then go after the gunship who 90% is taken out my guns,

think there is limits tho to how fats u get points, i get the 2 awards piss of for a bit, come back and go at it again but dont get points, so might eb a time frame there

LOL they had BF2 to sort out their stats structure and it sounds like 2142s is a joke.

I'd whore it up BIG TIME those of you who love your stats cos I bet they screw all the easy points for you next patch

I found it pretty fun going for vet knife.
I found fly over to the enemy side and then start to run with them.
You could run with a squad and they wouldn't even notice you are enemy.
Then once they all stop to shoot you go and knife them all in the back.
They are normally too busy worrying about not getting shot they don't care if one of there members goes down.

sometimes the account servers dont update your stats what i do is login out then in again and it updates, also if you login and have no rank just restart the game aginn and login it will be fixed.
Even a reboot can help too.

As for the whoring points I believe I read it somewhere that you only get so many points for destroying/repairing things in one round....ie: destroy/repair all 4 Titan guns once and you can still repair them, but you don't get any more points.

You can just keep getting pins for destroying the titan guns and getting the points from that.

YOu wouldn't believe how much the percentage of reasonably even, enjoyable games in BF2 has gone up since 2142 came out. I'm piling in the BF2 hours until teacup is over because I figure we'll see the public server whoring return if 2142 peters out.

Most of the experienced players left love the game and tend to be the sort who play to enjoy rather than dominate and destroy.

Different people have different approaches to gaming. some people are very competitive and want to use any means to win as well as possible as often as possible. That's a great trait, and one often found in winners, but unfortunately not very compatible with the more social players. For the moment all the mega competitive types have moved to 2142 and teacup, so us social players are benefiting :)

Myself and SirNotAppearingIn had quite the afternoon exchanging knifes :D, titan mod is semi-fun, but yeah the share number of stat whores not withstanding, i cant stand the lag even on 32p that occurs when you get aboard the titan and start taking out reactor consols, its stupid.

I have dropped most of my graphics settings down to medium, and now have playable fps in the titan, in saying that last night on conquest i was getting crap fps, and no ranks....maybe the no rank thing is a sign that the server is becoming unstable...maybe

Has anyone else played 2142 while capped I have been capped for the last 2 days got one more day to go it unplayable really bad lag I used to play Bf2 heaps when capped could not tell any diffrance does 2142 use more bandwidth?
