patch errorr helppp!!!

ok.. ive downloaded the patch 3 different times from 3 different sites

and all are saying the zip files are corrupt..

so i get someone to download and unzip it then put on an ftp.
i download the exe file off the ftp and run that and it says


"feature - new feature error"

file
error : catastrophic failure"

what the f--- is this and why cant ea games just work??? !

im trying to avoid reformatinng

ok i reformatted

same thing happens with the unextracted file

i cant extract any other zip patch files

i have downloaded ea downloader

when i launch bf2 it says it will minimise and download the patch using ea downloader
then nothing comes up on the "my downloads" part nothing prompts you i just get nothing
this is doing my head in

You have mentioned both BF2 and BF2142

Patching 101:

1) Install 2142. If installing via the EA downloader, the patch is included, stop here and go play 2142. Else continue on to 2.
2) Install the patch.
Method A: Using the EA downloader. Start up the EA downloader and log in. When there is not "a problem with the download service" I will update this with the details. I believe it's just a case of selecting the patch and clicking "install".

Method B: Using a zipped file download. Download the file, NZBattlefield hosts the file:

The safest way (IMO) to download the file is to use either Firefox's built in downloading or a download manager (such as Free Download Manager). After downloading the file, right click on it and click "Extract here" to extract the .exe file (I'm assuming the use of WinRAR as the extracting program). Quit out of 2142 if you have it up and running, failure to do so will cause you to lose BF2142.exe when the patch runs. Double click the .exe file to start the install process.

Done. Go play Battlefield 2142.


illerskiller, by the looks of what you've written there, either your download is corrupted or you need to use something other than winzip/windows extractor for your extraction. Have you tried WinRAR?
