I made Killer's day yesterday and preordered the BF2 mod = BF2142 ( :) )........it has grown on me and I have nothing else better to do even after I've been slagging it off for so long.

Anyway question I have is how is the player naming going to work in BF2142?

You login with your EA account membership details then you make a player. Does this mean all the player names are in effect aliases attached to the core EA account or are they all seperate players and have to be names that are not already in use?

Also with the veterans name you specified if you decide not to use that player name does that mean you don't get the veteran bonus?

Yeah but you use the same account as your are now i think, like kill3r said if you have 12 players under your EA account you have 12 different stats accounts not just one so you cant keep changing your name and have keep your points.

imagine how easy it would be for people to impersonate other and be a tard if u could have the same name like in CSS

yeah true, i know it has its drawbacks but honestly only people who would know your being impersonated are the people that know you so would know its not you. Anyway, i must admit i havent minded it using bf2 so yeah haha...just no one take equity

Yeah that does have its pitfalls although it was never really an issue in BF1942/BFV where you could have a name that was already in use.

As for stat tracking why couldn't it just use the EA account and you can have whatever display name you liked. Just annoying as all variations of Fubar are pretty much gone, I did the Veteran thing at a time when I wasn't expecting to buy it and now I can't change that chosen name :cussing:

ingame for 2142, i created an acccount called silaecedia,

i then attempted to make a solder name 5loth

it told me it is in use, or that it contained illegal characters, i can't remember which one
so i then tried to use sloth, but it told me that was already used.

now i'm sure nobody else is using 5loth, so i went to the bf2 veterans program website,
logged in with my silaecedia account and tried to reserve the name 5loth, and it tells me
its already used by someone else??? wtf is up with that, it was my name, with my password, and its telling me someone else is using it. the same with any of my accounts, Grede, -$ila-5loth, etc. it tells me they're used by someone else.

so now i'm stuck with gay ol' ecedia :(

anyone else had similar issues, or how i can get my 5loth name to work?

I think it doesn't allow you to start the name with a number, well I'm pretty sure that's what it told me when I was making an account that started with a number.

But doesnt it tell you to check the BF2s.com website to find a name thats not already used currently in BF2? Besides doesn't help me as it wouldn't let me use "@" in my name, said invalid character

Also with the veteran status if it isn't already should be connected to the EA account not the player name you specified, so if you decide on a different name you don't lose your veteran status

Make a new EA account name and use one of your other player names from BF2 to create a new veteran account for BF2142? Might have to try that.

I know you cant register a BF2 player name for Veteran status if you have already used it on another EA account

....? you cant have the same name in CSS, you can change your name in game but if its the same as someone else in game it just adds a (1) to the end, your acc name is unique.. as is the ID which can be checked ingame.

In bf2, I could put =ISF= as part of my name, so I could have =ISF=Spacemonkey.

But what annoys me in 2142, is it wont let me put =ISF= at the start of my name, so I can't have Spacemonkey cause some retarded loser has stolen it from me!!!

So I'm using snakemonkey, which is more awesome because it has snake in it.

Yeah there are some serious issues with that vet program.

Good idea, poorly executed. My main concern was that it didn't allow 99% of non-alpha numeric characters, but that actual game does.

So for the vet program I couldn't register Haz@rd, I had to go with Hazard-

Was in EB today and saw their BF2142 display.

It had a sign that went on about Veteran and preorder unlocks. Thing that puzzled me was when it went on about Veteran status. It said you could reserve your current name plus another unused new one?????????

How they figure that one out
