View Full Version : Tag disappearing at far distances.

BF2 also had this problem, it's really annoying. Today I was in a tank, saw this walker in the distance, so I zoomed in and started to fire, not until ten shots later did the tag decide to show up, and I saw it was a friendly.

In the mean time and enemy tank came up behind me and shot me :(

Also, and tank shells disappear about halfway to the target, so you can't see where you're shooting.

hehe gutted - specially the disappearing shells thing - be hard to gauge where to aim

makes it more realistic i think :P, but there is always a minimap which i check frequently, some even have the fully opened mini map open all the time at a certain transparency (eeewwww)

bahaha, you obviously missed anyway, otherwise would have seen the 'team damage' message.. no?

well it's hard to hit stuff when the shells disappear half way there.

And I do usally check the minimap, but in this case the walker was coming from an enemy base, and shooting in my direction.

Yep, checking your minimap is the best way to go. If in doubt spot it, and enemy titan will come up or ur friendly tags will show immediately. I know its not great for rest of server, but then again its only a question mark and im sure ur team would rather have the odd false spot than have you launching into them. As for the shells dissapearing halfway do u mean graphically or they quite literally vanish? I know tank shells have reasonable drop on them, but also u shouldn't expect to see them all the way to the enemy at longer range theyre not huge objects

I mean graphically, I know they're quite small, but before they disappear they can still easy be seen. After a certain distance the engine just doesn't draw them anymore.

Aircraft have the same problem as well, after a certain distance they just fade to grey, and that distance is not that far, it’s really annoying when I’m aiming for one when all of a sudden is disappears.

This often how things stop appearing, you can see them then you can't =P nah j/k I know what u mean, chances are it isnt down to the engine but more your gfx settings, having things on medium/low will stop rendering some objects to stop ur card lagging out

To be honest, I was to involved lining up a shot, that I didn't look at the mini-map.

pfft anyway, it's only a demo, not like tk's count. :D
