According to some tidbits that Demize has thrown at us and videos that I have seen, this is how the ranking system seems to be worked out.
No longer is your rank based just on your global points, they are based on rank points.
You can earn rank points in a couple of different ways. The first one is by global points. I am assuming that whenever you reach a set amount of global points, say 500, you will receive rank points, say 10.
You can also earn rank points by earning badges/medals. This was relatively unknown until Demize said in a previous post that he "ranked up" twice in a very short amount of time, because he earned a certain amount of global points, and he earned a badge which also netted him rank points. The total amount of rank points earned in those two actions allowed him to advance two ranks.
Obviously, this will finally mean that your rank will only be based on how much of an armor/mech/medic/insert whatever whore, but will also be based on skill. Sure, some of the badges will be attainable only through whoring, but say there is a badge for having 200 kills and at least a 1:1 K ratio. Or maybe a veteran version of the badge with a 1.5:1 ratio.
The possibilities of this are awesome, and mean that you don't necessarily need to do a daily grind of spending multiple hours trying to get 1000 points. Sure, when the awards start getting thinner, then you will have to be putting a lot of time into it, but with this, those people who don't have all the time in the world will still be able to get a lot out of it.
good read. this should in some way eliminate stats padding, cus playing the game will get your ranks up faster
